Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners tables.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
